Recently I had my first experience with the staff at Lucy Pop Salon (don’t you just love that name?). I signed up for their two bootcamp events they were doing in July. First up: Makeup Bootcamp - South Beach. The focus of the session was to teach us how to do a nude, beachy look for daytime and then transition it to evening. I went with no expectations except to have a fun time and check out the salon. What I got was a fun time and some really super tips.
I’m already adept at makeup application since I used to perform but there is always something to be learned. The concept they use is very helpful. You bring your makeup and brushes and they pair you up with a makeup artist who instructs you on how to use what you already have as well as making suggestions for what to get or change. What you don’t have they supply, and at the end of the evening you walk away with a beautiful makeup job you did yourself and a handout of everything they use and suggest. I had a super time and my stylist Nichole was wonderful. She reinforced what I was doing right and got me over my fear of bronzer (smile). She also wrote down colors to look for, where to get brushes (watercolor brushes from the art store!) and anything I didn’t have that I needed. It was definitely worth the $30.
So keep an eye out on the Lucy Pop Salon website and/or their twitter feed for the next bootcamp series and be sure to sign up! Go, have a glass of wine, have a fun time with this group of talented ladies and gents, and learn some tips and techniques.
Coming: Second bootcamp review - Blowdry Bootcamp.
